1. The Science of Patterns (2002 / 2023)

2. Sunrise Projector (2004)

Hansen’s first full-length album was released exclusively as a CD on the Gammaphone label. No vinyl pressing of this album was ever produced; the material was later expanded and reissued as Past Is Prologue.

3. Past Is Prologue (2006 / 2013)

4. Coastal Brake EP (2009)

On September 20, 2023, Hansen opened The Official Tycho Reverb Shop, listing nearly 100 pieces of studio gear accumulated over 25 years of collecting. The sale is significant to the collector ecosystem because these instruments were directly used to create the sounds on Tycho’s albums – provenance that elevates their value beyond standard secondhand gear pricing.

Notable Instruments Sold

• Oberheim Four Voice (FVS-1): A 1975 analog synthesizer that Hansen described as having “a mind of its own.” This unit created the signature pad sounds across multiple Tycho albums. Hansen debated selling it.
• Korg Trident: Acquired from a friend. Hansen was drawn to it because he heard Boards of Canada used one.
• Neve 54 Series Mixer: A broadcast console originally designed for South African radio. Used on Epoch.
• Eventide H3000: Used heavily on Epoch. Hansen purchased it after learning Eddie Van Halen used one.
• SSL G-Comp: Studio bus compressor used across multiple albums.
• Chandler Limited LTD-1: Preamp from Hansen’s recording chain.

Hansen stated he keeps “things cycling in and out” as he gets inspired by new machines. All items were listed at fixed prices (no auction format). The sale attracted intense interest from both Tycho fans and gear collectors, with many items selling within hours.

Printing Process

ISO50 prints use a digital thermal press (toner-based process). In high-contrast areas, the toner builds up a thicker layer, creating an almost screen-printed texture. This gives ISO50 prints a distinctive tactile quality.
